Early this morning we learned about a earthquake that rated as a 6.2 on the Richter Scale. We were not affected so we continuted our scheduled visit to the Wellington College of Education. It was definitely an enlightning experience. We participated in the traditional Maori welcoming ceremony and then later in the day got to actively participate in a Maori dance class. It was really more like aerobics. This afternoon we all went our separate direcions. A large group chose to visit the National Museum of New Zealand while others shopped in Wellington's stores. Once again our day was sprinkled by rain and cold winds. On the next day we did a variety of things from horse trekking, to the cable car and zoo.

Today we traveled again. We started out on a 3 hour ferry ride on a ferry that was more like a small cruise ship. This took us to Picton on the South Island of New Zealand. After we stopped for a meal we continued our travel on a 5 hour train ride that followed the Pacific coast and ended in Christchurch. The weather was a shock for us all because there was a slight chance of snow.

The 28th we visited Wharenui Primary School in Christchurch. After this for the most part we went shopping and walking around. We completed our shopping on the morning of the 29th. We then boarded another Qantas plane for a 3 hr 20 min flight to Sydney, Australia. After we all lugged our suitcases up a flight of stairs at the hostel we were free to roam Sydney. We did alot of walking around. A group found the Planet Hollywood and enjoyed some American food while others walked around the harbor. A couple of us even went to see Moulin Rouge which by the way we both tremendously enjoyed.
